iDirect
iDirect, now ST Engineering iDirect, builds satellite communication systems: the hub equipment and modems that carry IP networks over satellite links.
What we did
We worked on iDirect's satellite communication systems, in C++, with C for the lowest-level parts.
Routing packets
Wrote the code that routes packets between the different modules of the system.
Talking to the modems
Built low-level networking for bulk communication with satellite modems, used for diagnostics and time monitoring.
Close to the wire
Worked directly with network cards and low-level protocols, reading and writing the bytes of IP packets.
