Markdown is not a great format for planning and documentation compared to HTML.
The browser is a great tool for viewing text-like formats, and way less annoying than the IDE's built-in Markdown preview. Static pages running directly off file:/// are great for cross-linking and creating navigation, and you can embed interactive components, built on the fly, right in the page.
